Colorado Chardonnay 2023

100% Chardonnay

The hand-picked grapes for our Chardonnay were sourced from Hawks' Nest Vineyard in Dolores, CO.  This is the highest commercial vineyard in North America at 6,800 feet above sea level.  2023 was a cooler vintage and shows in the wine with crisp flavors and a refreshing finish.

We allow the wine to go into a reductive phase protecting it from oxidation. The lees aging creates a richness on the palate with a balanced crispness on the finish. Green Apple, Caramel, Clover Honey, White Peach with a Lemon/Lime finish makes this chardonnay pop out of the glass!

ENJOY WITH

Charcuterie with a triple cream cheese, Ricotta Tortellini with pearl onion cream sauce, and pumpkin soup

DRINK WHEN

A meandering hike with friends turns into dinner plans and a candlelit dinner.

The Chardonnay label was inspired by a love for the mountains of Colorado. The Rocky Mountains stretch from north to south dividing the state into the Front Range or Denver area and Western Slope, everything west of the mountains. Playing in the mountains is a favorite pastime whether in the jagged San Juans, the valleys of the elk mountains, or in the moose filled Rocky Mountain National Park, beauty surrounds us.

“One of my favorite bottles of Buckel Family Wine is the Chardonnay. This wine overperforms and really showcases one of the most well-suited grape varieties we have here in Colorado. Neutral oak and a natural tension in the wine make it perfect for summer, and pairing with dishes including scallops, Rocky Mountain trout, and our late-season tomatoes.”
