Where do the grapes come from?

The Western Slope is an incredible place for outdoor adventures and taking in Colorado’s beauty. It’s also home to some of the state's best fruit orchards, organic farms, and vineyards. As a winery in the Gunnison Valley, we feel lucky to have access to incredible grapes from local vineyards right down the road. In return, we make wines that reflect the climate, soil, and terroir of our home.

Over the years, we have built strong relationships with many incredible Colorado farmers growing fruit on the western slope. Many of our CO grapes are sourced from the Grand Junction/ Palisade region along the Colorado River. This area is famous for its peaches and fruit orchards, but its warm days and cool nights allow for great ripening conditions that make excellent wines. Our Cabernet Franc is sourced from this region as well as our 2018 Zinfandel, from Dallas Black’s vineyard.

We also source some grapes from Paonia and Hotchkiss along the North Fork of the Gunnison. The elevation is higher than Palisade with a cooler climate, so the grapes have nice acidity, allowing us to make wines like our  2019 Pinot Noir, sourced from this area! We also are farming grapes in Cortez, in the four corners region of CO. This area has a mild climate and hot summer that bring the concentrated flavors and structure to the Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Merlot that make our Flyer Red Blend

As a Colorado winery, we take pride in crafting wine that reflects our home. But, its a growing industry that is still increasing with vines planted, so the supply can be limited. Over the past few years these regions have experienced some severe frosts that have greatly impacted the vines in the state resulting in reduced yields. Therefore, we supplement our grape supply with fruit from other excellent growers in California and Washington as our CO industry continues to grow!
